Q: What is Neighbors Like You (NLY)?
A: Neighbors Like You (NLY) is a referral program open to all current Neighborly franchise owners who are encouraged to identify good prospects within your personal and professional networks that might be a good fit for franchise ownership. The program is designed to help prospective franchise owners realize their dreams of business ownership through franchising, while also helping the network of Neighborly franchise owners and brands grow.
What this means for existing franchise owners is that as the service area of our network of home services brands expands with each new franchise added to the network, we are creating a larger customer base for all the services we collectively provide. What this means for people in your network is that they have the potential to enter the franchise ownership discussion knowing that all parties involved have their best interests in mind and want to see them have a great experience as they consider whether franchise ownership is in their future.
Practically speaking, as an existing franchise owner of a Neighborly brand, you can earn $5,000 for each of your NLY referrals that successfully becomes a franchise owner of one of the Neighborly franchise brands. And you can help a friend or colleague join the Neighborly network of over 5,000 franchises and learn what you have learned: that there is nothing better than being a franchise owner, and the freedom, flexibility and control that ownership offers.
Q: Why should I refer?
A: The Neighbors Like You program is a great way to help your friends, acquaintances, or professional connections toward also achieve their goals and dreams through franchise ownership. That’s what being Neighborly is all about!
Q: Who can I refer?
A: You can refer anyone. Friends, professional colleagues, contractors, anyone you may know. We will determine if they meet our rigorous criteria for franchise ownership. Please note, if you refer multiple individuals who will ultimately become business partners and enter into the same Franchise Agreement, you will only receive one referral payment. The referral candidate must be purchasing a new franchise unit to qualify, and so cannot be purchasing an existing unit via resale/transfer.
Q: What happens to my referral after I submit them?
A: Our caring team of franchise professionals will reach out to you and your referral to start the process of getting to know your referral and identifying the best fit for them.
Q: What if the person I refer doesn’t know what brand they want to pursue?
A: That’s perfectly fine! Our team will contact your referral to find the best brand fit for them.
Q: Can I refer to any brand?
A: Yes! You can refer to any Neighborly brand no matter which brand you currently own.
Q: What’s in it for me?
A: For each qualified referral you make that becomes a Neighborly brand franchise owner, by entering into a fully executed Franchise Agreement and paying the Initial Franchise Fee, you will receive a payment of $5,000. A NLY referral will be considered qualified if Neighborly can verify you have previously spoken to the referral candidate and you provide all of the accurate contact information for the referral candidate requested on the referral page. Any referral candidates who are already Neighborly brand franchise owners, or in the Lead Development or Franchise Development processes will not be considered qualified referrals. Any referral to an immediate family member (spouse, child, sibling) or yourself will not be a qualified referral. The referral candidate must be purchasing a new franchise unit to qualify, and so cannot be purchasing an existing unit via resale/transfer. For each qualified referral, you will be entered into a quarterly drawing for $1,350, plus you will receive free registration for 2, a complimentary hotel stay for up to 4 nights, coach airfare for 1 or mileage to that calendar year’s Neighborly Annual Reunion, and you will also be entered into a live drawing at Neighborly’s Annual Reunion for an additional $5,000 prize! (Please note that the calendar award year begins April 1st and ends on March 31st).
Q: When and how do I get paid? Check/direct deposit?
A: Your referral payment will be processed on the 15th of the following month that your qualified referral finalizes their franchise agreement (or completion of Phase 1 training?). You will then be notified that you will be receiving payment and we’ll be requesting the payment method you prefer.
Q: What do I need to provide in order to get paid?
A: You will need to submit your current home address to receive a check or an updated W9 to receive payment via direct deposit.
Q: Is this taxable?
A: You will receive a 1099 at year end . Neighborly does not provide tax, legal or accounting advice. You should consult your own local tax, legal and accounting advisors.
Q: Can I refer a spouse or family member?
A: Unfortunately, a referral to an immediate family member (spouse, child, sibling) or yourself will not be a qualified referral. You are welcome to refer an extended family member. Please note, if you refer multiple individuals who will become business partners and enter into the same Franchise Agreement, you will only receive one referral payment.
