Neighborly Welcomes New CFO and New General Counsel to Executive Team

Neighborly, formerly Dwyer Group, one of the world’s largest franchising companies of trade service brands, has announced that Jon Shell has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer and Grayson Brown has joined the company as General Counsel, effective immediately.

“We’re excited to welcome Jon and Grayson to our executive team at a pinnacle time in our organization’s national and international growth,” said Mike Bidwell, president and CEO of Neighborly. “They are outstanding executives with knowledge and experience that will benefit us greatly as we take our company to the next level as the leader in the service trades.”

Shell comes to Neighborly after serving as chief financial officer for Barbeque Integrated, Inc., a portfolio company of Sun Capital Partners that operates 66 Smokey Bones restaurants. His duties included accounting, finance, IT, risk management, new restaurant development, facilities purchasing and supply chain functions. He also served on the Performance Improvement Team at Sun Capital. Shell is a Certified Public Accountant who began his career at Arthur Andersen. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Shell succeeds Tom Buckley who is retiring from Neighborly after 18 years with the company.

Brown most recently served as general counsel for Midas, a part of TBC Corporation, which also owns NTB Tire & Service Centers, Tire Kingdom and other brands. Prior to that, he served as general counsel for Tasti D-Lite and Planet Smoothie and for Sona MedSpa – two roles where he worked for Jim Amos, a past chairman of the International Franchise Association. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech as well as MBA and Juris Doctorate degrees from Regent University.

Brown succeeds Duke Johnston who worked at Neighborly for 21 years and is entering private practice.

“Jon and Grayson are filling critical roles in our organization as we work to grow Neighborly into a $2 billion business,” Bidwell said. “They are joining the company during a significant stage of growth. We were very selective in filling these positions given the importance of their roles, and we are very pleased to have them both join.”
